The so-called Roman Bridge of Silves (Ponte Romana de Silves) spans the Arade River and is one of the town’s most recognisable landmarks. Despite its name, the current structure likely dates back to the medieval period, built over Roman foundations. Featuring multiple stone arches, it once played a vital role in connecting Silves to surrounding trade routes. Today, it serves as a pedestrian crossing and a scenic spot, offering picturesque views of the historic town and its castle.
